‘Having previously used Bonds of Thornbury for the sale of my properties, I had no hesitation in appointing them in respect of the sale of my mother’s property. From the outset I was given friendly and helpful advice as to the asking price and subsequently of the preparation of the property for sale. ‘It has to be said that we chose you because we had endlessly picked your brains in the years preceding our sale and because you were always so friendly and helpful and always had time for us without any expectation. I think the fact that we still call in to the office for a chat when we can says much about the general ambience of the whole package; this is more than a cold calculated transaction but a personal service. ‘When we were looking for an agent to market our property we approached Bonds as they came highly recommended by local friends. Also, we were keen to use an independent agent with an established history of selling in the local market. Our initial meeting with Penny went well and we were encouraged that unlike other agents we had spoken with she did not overly ‘sell’ the services of Bonds as potential agents and in particular, did not inflate the suggested price in order to secure the instruction. On instructing Bonds, the house was available for marketing on the Saturday and an acceptable offer was made by the 4th viewer on the following Friday. Just what we wanted – a swift sale. From offer to completion, Penny kept us informed and clearly represented our interests as sellers at all times. ‘We moved to Thornbury in 1996 and Penny and Rowena, who were employed by another local estate agency at the time, enabled us to find and put in an offer on a house within just a few days. We kept in touch as Bonds of Thornbury was established, and have always found them both helpful and very friendly. When we decided to move to Yorkshire in 2010, we immediately asked them to be our agents and we were not disappointed. We had found a house we wanted to buy before our Thornbury house was on the market, and they both pulled out all the stops to get the house on the market within 7 days. They recommended a realistic price for the sale, sent out fliers to potential purchasers already on their lists, and advertised the property on the internet as well. During the first day of visits by potential buyers, we had 2 offers, one of which was at the asking price. We cannot praise Penny and Rowena enough for the way they handled the sale. ‘Several things impressed us in the way the sale was handled. The choice of the placing of publicity was clearly of paramount importance, and the indefatigable handling of viewings. My recollection is that you patiently showed about fifty more or less interested parties round the property. We were extremely grateful that it wasn’t us doing that. When the first sale fell through, and after we had removed a fair amount of extraneous furniture, you advised us on re-presenting the house for sale and turning it into a ‘show home’. That was extremely helpful and important. All the way through we had the feeling that the whole process was in safe hands, and that we could leave you to get on with it. We tried to think of something to say on the downside, to keep the review more balanced so to speak, but we failed. Sorry!.’ Mr W
